Ross Dowd
Industrial Designer

Ross Dowd is a multi-disciplinary, award-winning industrial and interaction designer based between New York and Dublin. His work centres on creating products, experiences, and installations that facilitate meaningful interactions — between people, and between users and their environment.

He holds a B.Des (Hons) in Industrial Design from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, graduating with first-class honours. His work has been exhibited at Science Gallery Dublin , Congreso Futuro in Chile and D’Days Design Festival in Paris, and has received multiple awards from the Institute of Designers in Ireland, including the Universal Design Award and recognition at the IDI Awards.

Ross previously worked as an Industrial Design Lead at Nokia Bell Labs (2016–2020), where his practice increasingly sat at the intersection of art, technology, and systems thinking. Through Bell Labs’ Experiments in Arts and Technology (E.A.T.) programme, he designed and built a motion-responsive audio system for an interactive spoken-word performance, which toured internationally and explored the relationship between human movement, voice, and computational systems. He has also spoken and presented work on the intersection of art and technology, including a keynote at the Re:Logia conference.

Curious by nature, Ross continues to expand his practice through research-led design, collaboration, and making. He currently works as a Design Strategist at A+I, a strategy-led, integrated design agency based in New York.
